Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Clapham Movers
Clapham Movers is committed to conducting business in a manner that respects human rights, promotes ethical conduct, and prevents all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, servitude, and all forms of exploitation. This commitment applies to every aspect of our business and to all individuals working for or on behalf of Clapham Movers, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers.
All business decisions and operational practices must align with this policy. Any form of complicity in modern slavery is unacceptable and will result in immediate investigation and, where appropriate, termination of contracts or working relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Clapham Movers provides removal, relocation, and associated services. In doing so, we interact with a range of suppliers and partners, including transport providers, equipment and packaging suppliers, storage facilities, and labour agencies. We recognise that some parts of our supply chain may present higher risks, particularly where temporary labour or subcontracted services are involved.
We are committed to increasing transparency in our supply chains and to working only with organisations that share our values and comply with applicable laws and standards on human rights and labour practices.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and contractors to uphold labour standards that are consistent with our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery. As part of our supplier management process, we:
Assess new suppliers for risks related to modern slavery, including their use of subcontractors and recruitment practices. Require confirmation that workers are employed voluntarily, are of legal working age, and are free from coercion, debt bondage, or exploitation. Reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence of compliance, such as policies, training records, and proof of right-to-work checks.
Where we identify concerns or non-compliance, we will engage with the supplier to seek prompt remediation. If a supplier fails to demonstrate adequate progress or cooperation, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Clapham Movers encourages all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns may include suspicious recruitment processes, withholding of identity documents, unexplained deductions from wages, signs of coercion, or unsafe or degrading working conditions.
Reports can be made confidentially through internal reporting channels, including speaking to a manager or senior member of staff, or using our established whistleblowing processes. We will handle all reports sensitively, investigate them promptly, and take appropriate action, which may include reporting matters to relevant authorities.
We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and those who manage our suppliers. Relevant staff receive guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery and on the appropriate steps to take if they suspect any form of exploitation.
We will continue to review and improve our training materials and communication so that our teams remain vigilant and informed.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Clapham Movers. They are accountable for ensuring that adequate systems and controls are in place and that this Statement is implemented effectively across the business.
We review this Modern Slavery Statement at least once every year, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, business operations, or identified risk areas. The annual review considers the effectiveness of our policies, audit findings, reported concerns, and any remedial actions taken.
As part of this ongoing process, we will seek opportunities to strengthen our due diligence, improve supplier engagement, and enhance training, so that Clapham Movers continues to play an active role in combating modern slavery in all its forms.
